갤러리조은은 오는 4월 10일부터 5월 10일까지 권용래 작가의 개인전 『Eternal Flame: 영원한 불꽃』을 개최한다.

권용래의 작업은 회화와 조각, 설치의 경계를 넘나든다. 그는 전통적인 물감과 붓 대신, 수백 개의 스테인리스 스틸 유닛을 정교하게 조립해 화면을 구성한다. 용접 불꽃이 남긴 섬세한 흔적은 금속 표면 위에 궤적처럼 남고, 그 위로 드리운 빛은 움직이며 끊임없이 변화하는 장면을 만들어낸다.

빛은 단순한 조명 효과를 넘어서, 작품의 핵심이 된다. 표면에 반사된 빛의 떨림과 흐름은 시간성과 공간성을 부여하며, 관람자의 위치와 시점에 따라 새로운 이미지가 열린다.
특히, 불꽃에서 비롯된 유기적 패턴은 특정 각도에서만 은은하게 반짝이며 시적인 리듬을 만든다.

『Eternal Flame: 영원한 불꽃』전은 찰나를 포착해 영원으로 확장하는 예술의 본질을 빛과 금속이라는 언어로 풀어낸다. 불꽃처럼 번지고 사라지며, 동시에 빛처럼 남는 그 흔적들은 동시대 예술 속에서 권용래가 던지는 시적 질문이자 조형적 응답이다.

Gallery Joeun is pleased to present Kwon Yongrae’s solo exhibition, Eternal Flame, from April 10 to May 10, 2025.

Kwon Yongrae’s work traverses the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and installation. Eschewing traditional paints and brushes, he constructs each surface with hundreds of meticulously assembled stainless steel units. The delicate traces left by welding flames remain like calligraphic marks on the metallic surface, while light cast upon them generates ever-changing scenes.

Light, far from being a mere visual effect, becomes central to the work. The shimmering and flow of reflected light imbue each piece with a sense of temporality and spatiality. Depending on the viewer’s position and angle, new images are continuously revealed.
Organic patterns born from flame flicker softly at particular angles, producing a poetic rhythm. Cold metal shimmers with warmth, and across the static canvas flows a “music of light,” awakening a rich array of sensations.

Eternal Flame captures fleeting moments and expands them into eternity through the language of light and metal. Like a flame that flares and vanishes, yet leaves traces like lingering light, the exhibition presents a poetic inquiry and sculptural response from Kwon within the contemporary art landscape.
